Well, the puppies are finally here! We welcomed 8 lovely Llewellin Setter puppies into the world last night. I think Dora is all finished, now and has been resting comfortably (and exhausted) for about 2 hours. I think it is safe to say she is finished, but I have been wrong before.
We have 4 girls and 4 boys–a perfectly matched litter! The first pup, a female was born at 5:45 pm and the last, also a female was born at 11:26 pm. All of the pups seem very vigorous and healthy. They are nursing great. All seems excellent. We have black and whites, tri-colors, and orange and whites. Very nice, in my opinion. The pups weigh between 13.2 and 13.8 ounces! That is fantastic. No wonder Dora looked so huge!
Dora did fantastic. All went off without a hitch. I have the warming lamp, snuggle puppy warmers, and a heater in the puppy room to keep all toasty warm tonight. I think I will try to get a little sleep.
I will wait to officially announce the winner(s) of the “Puppy Pool,” but it looks like we have two for second place (answering two of the variables correctly). I will wait to look over the responses with fresh eyes and brains in the morning!
Good night all and thanks so much for participating.
Hug your Llew today.
