A bit unbelievable, but the snow pack is gone–and it’s only March 14th! Crazy. I’m thrilled in one sense because I can work dogs and get a head start on the clean up. On the other hand, it’s a wee bit scary. I hope it isn’t a sign of a brutal, warm summer. 🙁 Nothing I can do about it, though, so I’ll enjoy what I’m given.

I’ve been trying to take Santana & Boone’s pup, Crockett, for walks, but its barely been possible until today. There was finally enough bare, dry, high ground for the little guy. When there is a snowpack, the dogs can stay on top of the snow–humans, not so much. When things start to warm and melt, everyone sinks. When it still freezes at night, everything is a solid sheet of ice until it warms up enough the next afternoon. Thus, it’s been pretty much impossible to work dogs. Until today!

I was just going to take Crockett, but decided it would be fun to take Santana for her run and take pup along. It was so fun to watch him trying to watch her and forget trying to keep up! Santana of course got into birds in under 5 minutes. The wild pheasants keep things fun, for sure. I wish it were Ruffed Grouse or Woodcock, but, hey, I’ll take it. Anyway, it was a blast.

I took a lot of not-so-great photos and a few video clips (until I broke my lens and had to hold it on to even take photos, but trying to get video seized the camera). So, I made another montage. I have to stop making these until I have very good footage and photos. It’s a shame to bore you with sub-par stuff, right?

I’m sure you would like to see photos of the pregnant girls. I’ll get them soon.

It felt fantastic to be out working dogs today. They got soaking wet, but they had a blast blowing off some steam just running the 70-acre field. And I just let them run and run and point pheasants. They are happier dogs tonight and I am, too. Happy dogs, Happy wife. Happy wife, Happy life. I’d be the happy wife. 🙂

Thanks all and don’t ever forget to hug your Llewellin Setter!
